Wigan have confirmed Arouna Kone as their fourth signing this summer.
The Ivory Coast international joins the DW Stadium side on a three-year contract from Levante, with the Premier League side thought to have paid a fee in the region of €3.5 million (£2.7m).
The journeyman forward has played for PSV Eindhoven, Roda, Sevilla and Hannover, and has impressed in La Liga over the last 12 months, netting 17 times for Levante last season.
Roberto Martinez is glad to have Kone in his contingent and feels that the striker will give the Latics a cutting edge.
“He’s a player that we’ve been chasing for a long long time,” the Spanish manager told the club’s official website.
“We know Arouna really well, he got tremendous experience in European football and we’ve really enjoyed watching his goal scoring talent.
“He’s a strong payer with a clinical touch and someone who will bring us something different up front,” he concluded.
Kone has also played for his country 35 times, grabbing nine goals.
