Sheffield Wednesday will be looking to bounce back from just the second defeat of Garry Monk’s tenure this weekend when they host Swansea City at Hillsborough.

The Owls have had to deal with the absence of several key players in recent matches, most notably last time out when Barry Bannan was a shock exclusion in the heart of midfield.

Often this campaign, players have stepped up to the mark to fill any glaring gaps left behind by injury, such as Sam Hutchinson deputising in Julian Borner’s absence during their 0-0 draw with Leeds United.

The same goes for Cameron Dawson, who has managed four clean sheets in five appearances this season – when called upon.

Yet, The Star report he could well be on his way out of the club as Derby County, Blackburn Rovers, Preston North End, and Rangers are all monitoring his situation.

The 24-year-old’s contract expires at the end of the season, and as the backup to Keiren Westwood, Wednesday could well lose him, which hasn’t gone down too well with some sections of the Owls faithful.

One supporter claimed the club would regret losing him in the future while another begged them to tie him down to an extension as soon as possible.

A further member of the Hillsborough crowd believes he has the potential to be better than Westwood with the right coaching, with one more describing his future as ‘very bright.’
