da leao： Reports in Spain have suggested that Chelsea manager Antonio Conte approached Olivier Giroud during Fifa’s The Best Awards Gala in London, to discuss with the Frenchman the possibility of a move to Chelsea.

Giroud, who was at the event to accept the award for Best Goal of the Year, has failed to establish a place in the first team at Arsenal for a number of months now. Used predominantly as an impact substitute, the 31-year-old may be looking for pastures new and, if reports are to believed, Chelsea could be his next destination.

How good has Giroud been this season?

Valued at £19.8million by Transfermarkt, Giroud has found his chances at Arsenal limited once again during this campaign. Despite featuring in 13 games for the Gunners, only five of these appearances have been as a starter and the Frenchman is fast becoming a player who receives little more than 10-15 minutes of action per game.

That being said, Giroud has still bagged three goals and put in some impressive performances, particularly in the Europa League.

Chelsea need attacking options and Olivier Giroud is an attacking option. While he doesn’t have the elegance or goal scoring record of some of the Premier League’s top marksman, the 31-year-old is a physical threat who has plenty of experience in England’s top flight. A useful, if unlikely addition to the Blues squad.
