da dobrowin: Birmingham City are now “leading the race” to sign a South American attacker ahead of Championship rivals Wrexham, according to reports.

Birmingham sign Ibrahim Osman

da jogodeouro: It’s been a busy month at Birmingham. The Blues have welcomed Kai Wagner from MLS side Philadelphia, Jhon Solis on loan from Girona and now Ibrahim Osman on loan from Brighton & Hove Albion.

The 21-year-old became the latest to arrive earlier this week and revealed just how eager he is to get started as Birmingham look to climb back into top-six contention in the second half of the campaign.

After putting pen to paper on his loan move, the Brighton loanee said: “I can’t wait to get started. Birmingham City is one of the big teams in England and I’m really excited to get on the pitch and make the fans happy. I want to help the team as much as possible and to win some games, and to score and assist and help the team win.

“Speaking with the coach and the sporting director, and as you know having just qualified from League One with a lot of points, you can see the ambition from the club. The manager has been watching a lot of my games, he knows my style of play. I’m a direct winger, I attack a lot and I have speed.”

The winger could make his debut as early as later tonight when the Blues square off against Sheffield Wednesday. And as that debut potentially takes place, Birmingham could push on in their race to sign another Premier League talent.

According to talkSPORT’s Alex Crook, Birmingham are now “leading the race” to sign Jeremy Sarmiento from Brighton in what is likely to be a permanent deal.

Those at St. Andrew’s simply aren’t messing around this month. They’ve still got the play-offs in mind, despite sitting eight points adrift of the top six, and their transfer business is matching that ambition.

Whilst Crook pointed out that the deal is likely to be permanent, it remains to be seen just how much Birmingham will have to pay to land the winger.

For the player himself, it would also be a much-needed move. The Brighton attacker spent the first-half of the season on loan at Cremonese in Serie A, but has featured just seven times and remains without a goal.

By dropping down to the Championship, the £20,000-a-week Ecuador attacker could rediscover his best form just in time for Birmingham to mount an impressive comeback toward the play-off places.

In a deal that would get one over on Wrexham and Middlesbrough, the Blues would be making yet another statement move.
