da fazobetai: After securing European football for the first time in 30 years last season, the 2025/26 season has been the polar opposite for Nottingham Forest, with the club once again in a relegation battle.
da aposte e ganhe: The Reds currently sit seven points clear of the Premier League relegation zone, with Sean Dyche the man tasked with keeping the side in England’s top-flight.
He’s already their third manager of the current campaign, after Nuno Espírito Santo and Ange Postecoglou were both sacked by owner Evangelos Marinakis.
However, he is currently had to work with the players that were signed before his arrival, after taking the reins in October after the dismissal of the latter of the aforementioned duo.
That could be about to change in the coming weeks, as the January transfer window is now in full swing, which has already seen numerous players touted with a move to the City Ground.
Nottingham Forest make contact to sign £40m sensation
Over the last couple of days, Forest have made their efforts clear in the transfer market, with multiple approaches made to try and bolster the ranks for the second half of the campaign.
After Arnaud Kalimuendo’s loan move to Eintracht Frankfurt was confirmed, a new striker has been on the agenda, as seen with their enquiry to sign Napoli centre-forward Lorenzo Lucca.
The Italian has been subject to interest from Dyche’s men this week, but a deal could be tricky to complete, with Champions League outfit Benfica also wanting a move for the 6’7 star.
He’s not the only player who’s appeared on their radar in the past few days, with Wolverhampton Wanderers talisman Jorgen Strand Larsen another option being considered.
According to Fooball Insider, the Reds have made contact with Rob Edwards’ side over a potential move for the Norwegian international before the window closes.
The report also states that interest in the 25-year-old is a man in-demand this window, with Everton and Newcastle United two other sides keen on a move for the striker.
However, the article also states that the Premier League’s bottom side are open to letting the player leave, but only if an offer in the region of £40m is presented.
Why Strand Larsen would be Gibbs-White 2.0 for Forest
In the summer of 2022, eyebrows were raised across the country when Forest forked out a reported £25m rising to £44m for the signature of Morgan Gibbs-White.
The attacking midfielder had missed the decisive penalty in the shoot-out of the play-off semi-final the season prior, before he made the big-money move to the City Ground.
However, three and a half years on, the deal looks to be a phenomenal piece of business, with the 25-year-old racking up just shy of 150 appearances for the club across all competitions.
He’s also racked up 24 goals and 31 assists during such a period, with his latest strike securing all three points in the crucial relegation clash with West Ham United this week.
Gibbs-White has also been involved in numerous sagas during his time in Nottingham, as seen with his proposed £60m move to Spurs in the summer – before penning a new long-term deal at the City Ground.
Such a move now looks to be one of the club’s best in recent times, but they could emulate the transfer with a deal for Strand Larsen during the ongoing window.
Whilst the pair operate in different positions, the transfer would see the club landing another star from Wolves – with Gibbs-White showing that it can be a successful switch.
The centre-forward’s stats from the ongoing season highlight the talent he possesses in forward areas, with the Norwegian potentially being the solution to the current number nine issues.
Strand Larsen, who’s been dubbed a “monster” by analyst Connor Holden, has registered two combined goals and assists in the Premier League this season.
Whilst such a record might not be the most eye-catching, he’s previously demonstrated his talents in such a division – as seen by his tally of 14 goals last campaign.

His underlying stats from the current season do make for good reading, with the Wolves star registering 1.2 shots per 90, whilst placing 30% of his efforts on target.

Strand Larsen also offers a superb all-round threat in attacking areas, even completing 1.3 passes into the final third, which could allow those around him to improve their own tallies.
His tally of 2.9 aerials won, at a success rate of 45%, showcases his incredible ability in the air – something which the Reds have lacked within Dyche’s system.
£40m may seem a hefty figure for the talisman, but it’s a deal that might need to be completed if the club are to maintain their top-flight status come the end of May.
If the 25-year-old does make the move and reaches the levels provided by Gibbs-White, such a transfer would be worth every penny and would give the fans a reason to be excited about their team again.
